Ask ET Mutual Funds: Should I change the equity-debt ratio in NPS?

Source: Economic Times Feb 24, 2017

I am 50 years old. I have invested Rs 50,000 in NPS. As per auto allocation, my corpus is invested: 20 per cent in equity, 20 per cent in corporate bonds and 60 per cent in government securities. Since we are at the end of interest rate cycle, I fear that I am going to lose money, as my portfolio is 80 per cent debt and it will be invested for 10 years before I turn 60. I will avail 30 per cent tax relief. What should be my investment strategy for the next 10 years. I plan to invest Rs 50,000 every year. Should I change the equity-debt ratio? I will be happy to earn 8 per cent return, apart from the tax benefits.
