Fund industry veteran Mark Mobius, Executive Chairman, Franklin Templeton will retire on January 31, 2017. Aged 81, he has been with Franklin Templeton for the past 31 years.
Mobius is known for his expertise in emerging markets including India. In fact, Mobius led the Templeton Emerging Markets Group from 1987 to 2016 and later become the spokesperson for the group.
In a statement released by the company, Greg Johnson, Chairman, Templeton, “There is no single individual who is more synonymous with emerging-markets investing than Mark Mobius.”
Mobius is an alumnus of Boston University and MIT. He holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and master’s in communication. He also holds a doctorate in economics and political science.
