6% or 8%? What is the right inflation rate for retirement, children's education?

Source: Economic Times Jun 22, 2019

Many mutual fund investors do not include inflation while calculating the target corpus for their long-term financial goals like retirement, children's education, and so on. This is extremely risky because if your target corpus is the current cost of the goal, it would be hardly enough to take care of the financial goal after, say, 15 or 20 years.

This is because they are all direct investors who have no clue about anything and because of aggressive marketing about saving cost and media bombarding about these risky schemes and telling them that direct is the way to invest because there is no commission( which is faulty because all direct platforms do get commissions and Ono one does anything for free. What happens is since there is a difference in brokerages between different distributors meaning many distributors get much lower than few of them eventhough SEBI has mandated that the difference between direct and regular TER is supposed to be brokearges. This means that many distributors get much lesser than few of them and this saving by AMCs would be passed on to these so called direct platforms. Surprisingly SEBI only and only is benefitting AMCs by maximising their profitsat the cost of crores of investors and over a lakh of distributors.

As far as healthcare and hospitalisation are concerned the inflation is artificial and is only done to maximise profits of hospitals and medicine manufacturers which government and CCI has to intervene and stop maliciousness. Also you are wrong about most helath Insurance companies don't cover post hospitalisation expenses. You don't even have half knowledge. Before writing any article you need to study everything about it if you are a responsible media house. Even if you are an advertising firm you need to be responsible and not just advertise anything and everything. It's high time that these articles are not just taken for granted and people writing them should be held accountable for writing them.
