    Lock-in-period of ELSS

Each SIP installment gets locked in for three years.
    Team Cafemutual May 14, 2013

If I invest Rs 2000 monthly in ELSS for one year, let’s say starting from 1 June 2013. What will be the lock-in period end date for each monthly instalment?

    -Mohit Gaba

    Hi Mohit,

ELSS lock period is for three years. Thus, each SIP installment gets locked in for three years. So, if your first SIP installment is dated 1st June 2013 its lock in ends in the month of May 2016. The next month’s SIP lock in will end in July 2016 and so on. The last SIP instalment made in May 2014 will end on April 2017.
