‘MF transaction tagging for B30 incentives depends on PIN and not city’

Ask us: MFDs have to ensure that the pin codes given in MF folios match with those in the KYC form.

One of our readers wrote to us with this query.

    Dear Team Cafemutual,

I would like to understand status of tagging of MF investment of a client who stays in T30 city but his postal code is not present in the list of top 30 pincodes issued by the AMFI.

For instance, if a customer stays in Allahabad but his pincode of 212505 is not present in the list of AMFI list, what would happen to such a transaction in terms of tagging?

    Abhijeet Sengupta

    Dear Abhijeet,

While AMFI has identified Allahabad and Varanasi as the top 30 cities this year, tagging on MF transactions happen at a pincode level.

In fact, a few satellite cities like several parts of Thane and Kalyan in Mumbai, Palwal in Delhi and Maraimalai Nagar in Chennai are B30 cities.

In the above example, Barai Harakh (212505) is a satellite location near Allahabad. Since this pincode is not present in the list of B30 cities, it will be tagged as B30 city for transaction purposes.

You can check if your city falls under B30 or T30 by clicking here. Simply press CTRL+F from Microsoft or Command+F from Macbook and key in the location pin code to see the applicability of B30 payout.

Remember that MFDs can get B30 incentives if the investment amount is up to Rs.2 lakh. In addition, the pin codes given in MF folios should match with those in the KYC form.

Please can you tell us if the B30 incentive if the investment amount is up to Rs.2 lakh is on fresh investment or on the accumulated investment?

    Respected All,
I am a MFD based at Udaipur, T30 location...The list provided by AMFI has only 4 pin codes which are 313001, 313002, 313003 and 313004 of Udaipur..But, from the day the rule is in place CAMS serviced AMCs are not giving any B30 for the address in which Udaipur is mentioned irrespective of PIN CODE and from last 2 yrs Kfintech serviced AMCs have also stopped giving any B30...
I dont know whats the exact rule but, it seems there is some misunderstanding either on your part or on AMC part as we have also asked the same question N number of times from AMCs..But, I also believe as you are actually the well wisher of MFD community so, you must have enquired all the details before publishing this..
We, MFD of all B30 locations, would like you to get to the actual ruling regarding the same..If you want, I can provide N number of cases in which pin number does not belong to the said pin code and we are not receiving B30 commission for the same...

Dear Nishanth, Don't create and circulate false information. Practically no AMC releasing B-30 incentive based on Pincode. Even if my Investor reside in a pincode which was not there on T-30 list, RTA say since city name falls under T-30 we will not issue B-30 incentive. Any how they find a loophole to avoid to pay B-30 incentive.Last week I registered a new customer in NSE NMF platform.there I'm unable to find the Customer City (Mettupalayam)in the city Master. So I selected City as Coimbatore as nearest but entered the Pincode as 641301 which is no use.I'll not get B-30 incentive.Through our Association (FACT) also we have escalated this issue but no AMC consider our voice.I don't understand for what purpose AMFI releasing Pincode list which was not considered by AMC's and RTA's?

I too faced the similar problem and fought with CAMS and Karvy for the past 1 year. Cams did not respond and not bother to give reply to my all emails till today for this issue. But karvy is better, they responded my email and send email stating that "they will pay B30 incentive based on Pin code and city only and not pincode alone". Don't know how to sort out this issue.
