    Mar 16, 2020

Indian ultra HNIs prefer investing in real estate over other asset classes, says a recent Knight Frank report.

The Knight Frank Attitudes Survey 2020 covered 620 private bankers and wealth advisors managing more than US$ 3.3 trillion of ultra HNI wealth.

The survey shows that 54% of wealth advisors say that their clients prefer the real estate sector. It reveals that an increasing number of the wealthy are also focusing on environmental causes before investing in real estate.

When asked about the preference of clients to invest in commercial property within and outside India in 2020, the survey shows 26% of clients plan to invest in India while 15% outside the country. In fact, the interest among Indians to participate in domestic real estate sector is among the highest globally.

Interestingly, offices were the top sector in the client’s investment list as 81% of respondents chose offices as the topmost sector they want to invest in. Healthcare was another sector which got a high response followed by the education and retail segment.

Meanwhile, for about 65% of respondents hotels and leisure was a preferable sector to invest while for 60% it was infrastructure.
