SEBI data shows that the PMS AUM (excluding EPFO/PF investments) has crossed the milestone of Rs.5 lakh crore in June 2023.
The AUM of the industry has increased by 4% from Rs.4.88 lakh crore in March 2023.
Of the total non EPFO PMS AUM as on June 2023, majority i.e. 60% of the total AUM or Rs. 3.06 lakh crore has come from discretionary PMS. In discretionary PMS, portfolio managers make investment decisions on behalf of a client without requiring the client's prior approval for each trade.
Non-discretionary PMS accounts for Rs.2 lakh crore or 39% of the total PMS AUM as on June 2023. In non-discretionary PMS, the fund manager has to obtain consent from the client before making any investment decisions or transactions.

Overall, if we include contribution of EPFO, the total PMS AUM has increased to over Rs.28 lakh crore in June 2023.
In terms of number of clients, the industry has witnessed a decline of 3% as on June 30, 2023. SEBI data shows that the number has decreased from 1.44 lakh to 1.39 lakh.
