    AIF AUM reaches Rs.12.50 lakh crore in September 2024

    SEBI data shows that the commitments raised by AIFs has reached Rs. 12.43 lakh crore in September 2024. The commitments raised by the AIFs has increased by 30% from Rs. 9.54 lakh crore in September 2023.

    Of this, the funds raised by AIFs across categories has crossed the Rs. 5 lakh crore mark at the end of September 2024.  The funds raised by AIFs has increased by 29% from Rs. 3.88 lakh crore in September 2023.

    Further, the investments made by AIFs has reached Rs. 4.49 lakh crore in September 2024. They have recorded an increase of 27% from Rs. 3.53 lakh crore in September 2023.

    Let us look at the category wise growth in assets:

    Cat I AIF

    The commitments raised by Cat I AIFs has reached Rs. 83,500 crore. It has increased by 21% from Rs. 68,800 crore in September 2023.

    The funds raised by Cat I AIF has reached Rs. 45,800 crore showing an increase of 46% from Rs. 31,400 crore in September 2023.

    The investments made by Cat I AIF has reached Rs. 39,100 crore recording a growth of 52% from Rs. 25,800 crore in September 2023.

    Among Cat I funds, venture capital funds (VCFs) have raised the highest commitments of Rs. 49,900 crore. Infrastructure funds and angel funds occupy the next two spots with commitments of Rs. 20,000 crore and Rs. 8,300 crore, respectively.

    Cat II AIF

    The commitments raised by Cat II AIFs has reached Rs. 9.76 lakh crore showing an increase of 25% from Rs. 7.82 lakh crore in September 2023.

    When it comes to fund raised, Cat II AIFs has reached Rs. 3.44 lakh crore, recording a 21% increase from Rs. 2.85 lakh crore in September 2023.

    Investments made by Cat II funds have also increased by 15% from Rs. 2.49 lakh crore in September 2023 to Rs. 2.87 lakh crore in September 2024.

    Cat III AIF

    The commitments raised by Cat III AIFs has increased to Rs. 1.84 lakh crore in September 2024 from Rs.1.03 lakh crore in September 2023, a growth of 80%.

    Funds raised by Cat III AIFs has reached Rs. 1.11 lakh crore, recording an almost 55% increase from Rs. 71,700 crore in September 2023.

    Investments made by Cat III AIFs has reached Rs. 1.23 lakh crore. They have increased by 56% from Rs. 78,700 crore in September 2023.

    Top 10 sectors based on net investment

    Real estate leads the charts with investment of Rs. 75,500 crore as of September 2024. IT/ITeS(IT enabled Services) sector is second with Rs. 27,800 crore. Financial services sector is third with Rs. 25,800 crore.
