The wealth report 2025 by real estate consultant Knight Frank has revealed that India now has 85,698 High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), which is the fourth largest population globally. These are people who have a net worth that exceeds USD 10 million.
India makes up 3.7% of the number of HNWIs in the world. The report pointed out that one of the contributors is India’s growing entrepreneurial class.
This puts India's HNWI population above countries like France, UK, Canada and Germany, making it the fourth largest in the world, beaten only by Japan, Chinese mainland, and the USA.
The report also said that India now has 196 billionaires as of December 2024, with 26 of them being created in 2024 alone. These Indian billionaires have cumulative wealth USD 0.95 trillion.
The report also said that India's appetite for risk assets like equity has expanded rapidly.
