At Cafemutual Confluence 2020 Investment Marathon, you can expect to see a  lineup of some of the best    investment minds on August 12, 13 and 14. The objective is to provide investors the much needed clarity on the future of investing at a time when investors are becoming increasingly concerned about the performance of their mutual fund investment portfolios.

For instance, the credit scenario in debt markets is one of the most worrying factors for investors. They feel that the current credit scenario will not only have an adverse impact on credit risk funds but affect their entire debt portfolio.

Suresh Sadagopan, Ladder7 Financial Advisories, Mumbai observes that usually, in such a scenario, investors park their money in safer investment vehicles such as fixed deposits. However,in the current scenario where interest rates are falling and fixed deposits are offering suboptimal returns, many investors remain unconvinced about debt investments.

Now, this is where Cafemutual Confluence 2020 Investment Marathon comes in. Prem Khatri, Founder and CEO, Cafemutual says, “At Cafemutual Confluence 2020 Investment Marathon, well-known investment gurus are set to provide clarity on the current credit scenario, demystify debt funds and highlight the opportunities available in this space in a simple manner.”

Another concern that is troubling investors these days is what the size of their contingency fund should be. Vinod Jain of Jain Investment, Mumbai notes that amid fears of job instability due to lockdown, a common concern is ‘How much cash to hold to survive this phase?’ Currently, job cuts and cash flow are major concerns of investors given there is no certainty about when things will be normal.

Prem says that leading investment gurus will give insights on ideal asset allocation in the current scenario. In fact, investors can expect getting clarity on future of debt funds and reasonable return expectation from different categories of debt funds.

Meanwhile, many investors are worried about the future of equity markets. K Suman Rao, an IIT alumni who has been investing in MF for the last couple of years said that he has trimmed his equity portfolio after witnessing heightened volatility.

MFD Sadashiv Arvind Phene also said that his clients are jittery than before. “Even after equity market recovery, investors want to exit markets as they believe none of this is real given economic activities are closed for a long time. They rely on inaccurate information broadcasted on WhatsApp groups. Besides, herd mentality prevails as many enquire for investment in gold and international funds based on their recent performance.”

Anita Sutrave, Deputy CEO, Cafemutual assures that answers to all such queries will be a part of Cafemutual Confluence 2020 - Investment Marathon. Further, with Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, Krishnamurthy Subramanian addressing the participants, investors will get to know how the government will deal with the key challenges of our times.
