Maharashtra, New Delhi and Gujarat recorded the highest increase in equity AUM in August. These states have added Rs.22,255 crore of equity assets. Nearly 50% of these assets (Rs.14,169 crore) came from Maharashtra.
Amongst the top 20 states by equity AUM, Chhattisgarh (6.39%), Tamil Nadu (6.18%) and Orissa (6.01%) saw the fastest growth in equity assets.
Even smaller states recorded 5-9% growth in their equity assets. Arunachal Pradesh (9.2%) and Manipur (7.6%) saw fastest asset growth. Synchronous to the trend in equity AUM, Maharashtra and New Delhi also bag top spots in terms of total AUM. However, Karnataka replaces Gujarat for the third spot in absolute terms.
In the last one month, Maharashtra added assets to the tune of Rs. 36,500 crore. In the second place was Karnataka (Rs. 7,438 crore), followed by Gujarat (Rs. 5,581 crore). Despite New Delhi ranking higher in terms of total AUM, its monthly increase in assets was comparatively moderate.
In terms of growth in percentage terms, Tripura led the country with 13% growth in assets. However, the faster pace was because of low base. If we consider the top 20 states in terms of AUM, Orissa has recorded the fastest growth in assets of 9.9%.
Overall, equity AUM grew by 5.1% and the total AUM grew by 3.1% during the period.
