You will have to carry ‘AMFI registered mutual fund distributor’ tagline along with your name

AMFI, after consulting with SEBI, has asked MFDs to carry this tagline along with their name/company name across all forms of communication.
    Nishant Patnaik Oct 22, 2020

AMFI has asked mutual fund distributors to carry a tagline ‘AMFI registered Mutual Fund Distributor’ along with their name or company name with immediate effect.

The tagline has to be carried in a clear and legible font of at least font size 12 across all forms of communication.

AMFI said that SEBI has advised that MFDs should display their name and tagline in a clear and legible font in all forms of communication i.e. website, mobile app, printed or electronic materials, business card, sign board and so on.

Further, AMFI said that MFDs should not create an impression that they perform a role of financial advisor for which they are not registered. Instead, MFDs will have to explicitly mention that they are acting as an MFD.

On nomenclature, AMFI has issued a list of keywords that can be or cannot be used. According to this list, while you can use words like wealth and investment on standalone basis,  you cannot use these words in combination like wealth manager and investment management.

Click here to see the complete list of names which are permissible and not permissible.

You can write to AMFI at contact@amfiindia.com with the proposed name if you need clarity on the name of your company.

People seem to have nothing else to do than create more work for others during Covid. Another masterpiece !

I am sure most ARN holders are associated with other financial products as well, & not exclusively into Mutual Funds. How and Why should they project themselves to the clients only as an MFD ???

All the research and developments going on ... About MFds and RIAs ... Its making so complicated ...Guidelines are changing every now and then ...It seem that selling mutual fund is getting more complex than ever ..How can some one having mutliple products just mention this long tag line every where when there might be constraint related to characters of service we are offering on particular platform And if we have other products in our basked to service for .. If we make just this tag line highlight then it may limit client about services we offer

Foolish guidelines. Any body not having ARN no can not distribute MF products. All AMC take applications or transaction having valid ARN no or else it will be treated as direct. That means any body distributes MF products means they AMFI registered distributor. What is necessary to put tag line. Otherwise all AMC should also add tag line SEBI registered AMC along with their names.

I don't know whether AMFI guys are serious, the ARN is not the only thing MFDs are known for, they sell a lot of other financial products/ services. Just a question, would Directors of companies or highly placed corporate executives or business leaders also carry this 'tagline' as well, because they happen to be AMFI certified ? We could start with the AMCs themselves, let's see how many carry the tagline.

Here SEBI is busy in regulating MF disitributor taglines & its font size while on other side retail investors being looted by AMCs in day light. Franklin templeton closed its debt fund having AUM of 28,000 crore. investors still waiting for the refund. who is to blame for such mess Fund managers, AMCs or regulators ??

DHFL - AAA rated housing finance company listed in stock exchange whose financial reports gets audited as per sebi norms & also the rating agencies who allotted DHFL AAA rating defults & become insolvent overnight. is it possible ?
What the regulator is doing for protecting investors ?

Regulatory agencies must realize that in MF distribution business not everyone has 100 crores AUM.
So anyone who just started like me can't have same rules like those who are big distributors.
In order to regulate those big players they somewhere squeezing marginal players.
If there is distinctions in business like MSME, SME, etc., why should this not be in MF distribution.

To my mind and sense AMFI/SEBI/ REGULATORY AUTHORITY, SHOULD CONCENTRATE AND SPARE MORE TIME AND EFFORT TO LOOK AFTER THE INTEREST OF THE INVESTOR ..... SO THAT INVESTOR HARD EARNED MONEY IS PROPERLY TAKEN CARE.
