AMCs celebrate MFDs’ efforts in tough 2020-21

Like every year, fund houses celebrated March 31 as the Financial Advice Day/Mutual Fund Distributor Day

AMCs on Wednesday took various initiatives to mark the Financial Advice Day or the Mutual Fund Distributor Day. The AMCs used the occasion to stress on the importance of MFDs and celebrate their contribution to the industry and investors.

Edelweiss MF and Nippon India MF led the AMCs in celebrating the occasion. Both the fund houses released video messages as part of their initiatives to recognize MFDs' efforts in guiding investors and bringing business for the AMCs.

While the Nippon video wishes MFDs a "very happy Mutual Fund Distributor Day" and compares them with lighthouses for helping investors make right investment decisions, Edelweiss released another investor education film under its 'Advice Zaroori Hai' series.

There was also a video message from Edelweiss MD & CEO Radhika Gupta in which she congratulates MFDs for "reaching out to clients in times of stress". "We are very proud to be your partners. Advice Zaroori Hai may be our campaign but you are the ones that give influence," she said in the video.

Speaking to Cafemutual, Sandeep Walunj, CMO, Nippon India MF, said the company has always held MFDs in high esteem and provided cutting-edge tools & solutions to them. "Today, are applauding them for having been anchors, friends & guides for their investors throughout 2020-21. They have been lighthouses during the tempest of COVID-19," he said.

He went on to elaborate on the initiatives Nippon took in the last fiscal year to help MFDs transition to the ‘new normal’ during the Covid crisis. "First, we developed robust transaction platforms and trained scores of MFDs to use them effectively. Then we rolled out innovative co-branded creatives & geo-targeting campaigns to help generate leads & improve investor connect through social media. Lastly and most importantly, we launched an industry-first smart digital platform called Wealth Connections that allows MFDs to record lead-generating videos. As investors watch these videos over WhatsApp/social media, MFDs get notified, in real-time, about individual investor’s interest in the specific product and if interested, preferred slots for appointment," Walunj said.

Edelweiss also stressed on the fact that MFDs did a stellar job by helping investors navigate through the tough 2020. "In a year like 2020, MFDs have hand-held numerous investors through tough times and helped them navigate volatility, avoid panic and stay invested," the fund house said in a press release.
