Thanks to Tata Mutual Fund ‘My Self Belief, My Journey’ contest, we got an opportunity to meet fighter MFD K Jayaraman who has not only beaten all odds and achieved his life goals but is prepared to deal with whatever comes his way with confidence.
‘My Self-Belief, My Journey’ contest has been launched by Tata Mutual Fund with Cafemutual to highlight inspiring journey of MFDs who have overcome real life challenges.
Jayaraman has been advising his clients on their financial needs and is today a respectable name in the mutual fund industry. He was born as a differently-abled child, which got his family worried. Little did they know that this child would push all physical and emotional boundaries to emerge as a winner. As Helen Keller, American author once said, “A bend in the road is not the end of the road. Unless you fail to make the turn.”
Owing to physical limitations, Jayaraman is unable to write. In fact, he finished education with the help of a writer. However, this doesn’t stop him from fulfilling his dreams.
In consultation with a physiotherapist and with the assistance of their family agent, he started his career as an MFD in 1990s. He thus figured out his way to leading a professional life.
When Jayaraman started his practice, his physiotherapist was his first client. Thereafter, word-of-mouth publicity got him more clients. Eventually, he got his business cards printed and distributed a few to his existing clients who in turn shared it within their circle. Over time, he acquired many clients through referrals.
Recently, Jayaraman was required to undergo pacemaker surgery, followed by chest congestion. He was hospitalised for almost a month and has been advised not to step out due to the pandemic. He proved that no adversity is bigger than his self-belief, as he continues to serve his clients with the same zeal.
Jayaraman has crossed the traditional retirement age and believes that it is the trust of his clients that keeps him going. He also enjoys the confidence/support of AMCs and their respective RMs and recently renewed his ARN for another three years.
Jayaraman teaches us that self-belief is bigger than any limitations, and it is the key to scaling new heights.
This is K Jayaraman’s story to success, keep watching this space for the remaining 8 stories …
