Tata Mutual Fund along with Cafemutual launched the ‘My Self-Belief, My Journey’ contest to highlight the inspiring stories of MFDs who have overcome all odds in life. Here is the motivating story of one of the contest winners Rishabh Adukia who wears multiple features in his hat.
As a student, Rishabh enjoyed participating in sports. He was a state-level basketball player. He was also interested to learn more about technology and hence was seen assembling computers. However, he was not very studious.
Things significantly changed for young Rishabh when he met a senior gentleman from the corporate world. The meeting taught him a golden rule which changed his outlook forever. He learnt that a person learns in 2 ways i.e. the number of books read and the number of people met. This was the turning point in Rishabh’s life. He decided to spend the rest of his student life reading books. Though he wasn’t an avid reader, it was his self-belief that got him started.
Burning the midnight oil, he put in 16 to 18 hours daily and completed chartered accountancy. He continued his journey in which he procured not one, not two but four more degrees. Rishabh completed company secretary, law, certified financial planner and master of business administration-finance. He continues to read and meet new people.
Rishabh sensed an opportunity in distribution business when he encountered a wealthy client who was looking for financial advice in mutual funds. Very soon, he started his own distribution firm ‘Nine Cube’ to offer host of services like financial planning, estate planning, investment planning, taxation planning and so on.
Since the beginning, Rishabh focussed on catering to wealthy clients as he feels that these clients require an advisor who can take care of all their financial needs be it investment, taxation, estate and so on. Over time, word-of-mouth publicity and referrals got him new clients. Currently, he caters to the financial needs of more than 100 investors across the country,
From being a child who wasn’t studious to being a professional with multiple degrees, this is Rishabh’s story that epitomises what Nelson Mandela once said - “It always seems impossible until it’s done”. His story teaches us that a strong will and self-belief is the key to achieving newer milestones.
