The contest was launched by Tata Mutual Fund and Cafemutual to acknowledge and applaud MFDs’ journey to success. Today let us read the story of Tejshiv Sharma, a 19-year-old MFD from Haryana.
Tejshiv hails from a modest family and was in search of an alternative source of income along with his studies. While researching online, mutual funds grabbed his attention. He studied their functioning in detail by investing a small amount on behalf of his mother. Very soon, he developed a keen interest in mutual funds and decided to start his own mutual fund distribution business.
On attaining majority, he started as a sub-broker with a national distributor. Tejshiv believes that mutual fund distribution requires modest investment and offers good earning potential.
Tejshiv began spreading awareness about mutual funds amongst his friend and acquaintances, who became his initial clients.
Tejshiv also launched his YouTube channel on mutual funds titled ‘Invest Empires’. He also uses multiple social media platforms to increase his professional visibility. With his digital presence, he managed to acquire clients across cities like Delhi and Kolkata.
The last one to one and a half years have been eventful for Tejshiv. He rented an office premises and achieved a new milestone. He currently serves 51 clients. Additionally, he also handles 19 trading accounts. Tejshiv aims to acquire 1000 clients within a few years.
Tejshiv continues to learn from industry veterans by attending webinars and following Cafemutual.
At such a tender age, where many are in a dilemma about various career options, Tejshiv has created a mark for himself. He concentrates on growing his business while focusing on his studies. He is currently pursuing his bachelor's degree.
Tejshiv’s story highlights that mutual fund distribution business has a great potential. Even at this age, he has over 51 clients.
