Covid cases surged significantly in the second wave and created a huge demand for medical products and facilities. Many struggled to get timely help and resources.
Empathising with the situation, Saurashtra Kutch IFA Association (SKIFAA) came forward to help bridge the gap between the need and availability of resources. The association has been working 24*7 to provide oxygen cylinders and necessary medicines to covid patients.
For this, the association has segregated team members into five teams in charge of four/five cities each. Every chapter has a separate representative for speedy coordination and resolution during times of need.
The hardships caused due to the pandemic were further aggravated by the Tauktae cyclone. The cyclone made landfall in the city of Rajula and Jafarabad in Amreli district in Gujarat. The locals in these areas were severely affected.
Feeling their pain, a team of three members volunteered to arrange and distribute food packets along with drinking water. The volunteers used their personal funds to distribute around 800 packets to the needy.
Chetan Nandani, President SKIFAA said that “This is the least that we can do on humanitarian grounds.”
He also shared that the members have been relentlessly volunteering for the past 15 to 18 months. Jayesh Pattani (Porbandar chapter head and vice president SKIFAA), Anand Jinjuwadia (Amreli chapter head and secretary SKIFAA) and Paresh Sarvaiya (Bhavnagar chapter head, spokesperson and IT head SKIFAA) have always been at the forefront to serve the society.
The association provides a common platform for its members to learn and grow and currently has more than 300 members.
