The government on Friday has extended the last date for mandatory linking of Aadhaar and PAN by three months till September 30. Earlier this year, the deadline was extended from March 31 to June 30.
"Last date of linkage of Aadhaar with PAN, which was earlier extended to June 30, 2021 is further extended to September 30, 2021," the finance ministry said in a press release.
The news comes as a relief for the mutual fund industry which was expecting several transaction failures as a good number of investors were yet to link the two documents.
Linking of both the documents before the last date is important for continuity of mutual fund transactions. This is because PAN numbers, which are required for MF transactions, will become invalid if they are not linked to Aadhaar.
