New ARN registration has picked up pace in FY 2022 after declining for three straight years from FY 2019 to FY 2021. In fact, new individual registrations in the first five months of this financial year has already crossed the total count of FY 2021.
Latest AMFI data shows that 7,080 new individual registrations were done in this financial year as against 5,601 additions in whole of FY 2021. Total registrations, including corporate employees and companies, stood at 15,532 for the April-August period. The figure is a bit lower than the last year's total count of 16,119.
Husaini Kanchwala, the product head of NJ India, said the restarting of physical examinations by NISM is among the biggest reason driving the registration growth.
"Because of covid, the examinations didn't happen for 8 months last year. That is why registrations fell so badly in FY 2021. Candidates who couldn't appear last year are appearing now," he said.
NISM's decision to hold online exams and AMFI slashing ARN registration fee by 50% also helped bring new people in the distribution business.
The registrations have been rising every month since June 2021. In August, 2,021 new individual ARNs were registered, which is the highest in FY22 so far.
