The number of individual MFDs crossed the 1-lakh mark for the first time in September as new ARN registration picked up pace in FY 2022. Between April 2021 and September 2021, almost 9,000 new ARNs were registered as against 5,600 new additions in the whole of FY 2021.
Comparing the active ARN count with the previous four six-month periods shows that growth was highest in April-September 2021 at 9.6%. In the previous six-month phase, the growth was 5.3%.

Of the total MFDs, almost half are from beyond-30 (B30) locations. Data shows that 47% of ARN holders (48,586) reside in B30 areas as of September-end 2021. The rest 53% or 55,009 MFDs are based in top 30 locations.
At the end of September last year, 89,737 MFDs have active ARNs in the industry, of which 46% were from B30 locations.
Maharashtra, which has the highest number of MFDs, saw the highest percentage of registrations at 28% in the past 6 months. Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh witnessed second and third highest ARN registrations.
