    SBI, ICICI Prudential and HDFC: Top 3 players in T30 locations

    A few fund houses like Edelweiss, HSBC, IDFC and Kotak Mahindra see over 90% of their total assets coming from top cities.

    An analysis of average AUM done by Cafemutual shows that the top 25 fund houses manage Rs. 31.25 lakh crore of assets in T30 i.e. top 30 geographic locations. This contributes 84% to their total assets base of Rs. 37.42 lakh crore.

    Of these, SBI MF, ICICI Prudential MF and HDFC MF enjoy a lion’s share in T30 locations. They manage assets of Rs. 4.96 lakh crore, Rs. 3.93 lakh crore and Rs. 3.72 lakh crore, respectively.

    Kotak Mahindra MF (Rs. 2.57 lakh crore) and Aditya Birla Sun Life MF (Rs. 2.49 lakh crore) secure the next two spots. 

    In terms of proportion of AUM of T30 location with respect to the total assets, Edelweiss MF tops the chart with 95% of its total assets from T30 locations. HSBC MF, IDFC MF, Kotak Mahindra MF and L&T MF derive the next highest share of 93%, 93%, 91% and 88%, respectively.

    Further analysis shows that ICICI Prudential manages the largest equity base in T30 locations with an equity AAUM of Rs. 1.59 lakh crore while HDFC MF manages the largest chunk of debt assets (Rs. 2.11 lakh crore) from T30 cities.
