    Ashwani Bhatia joins SEBI as Whole Time Member

    Bhatia will take charge of multiple departments including AIFs.

    Former MD & CEO SBI MF, Ashwani Bhatia took charge as a whole-time member of SEBI on Wednesday.

    Bhatia has been given the charge of multiple departments including debt and hybrid securities, AIF, foreign investors department, market intermediaries regulation and supervision department, corporation finance investigation department and office of investor assistance & education.

    Bhatia has over 35 years of experience in the State Bank Group, which he joined in 1985. He served as MD and CEO in SBI Funds Management and later as the Managing Director of State Bank of India.

    His experience lies in investment banking and asset management, treasury operations, retail banking and credit.

    With Ashwini's addition, SEBI now has three whole time members. SK Mohanty and Ananta Barua are the other two.
