AMFI’s latest data on re-categorisation of stocks as on June 2022 shows that the large cap space has seven new entrants - LIC, Adani Power, Adani Wilmar, Cholamandalam Investment, Bank of Baroda, Hindustan Aeronautics and Bandhan Bank. Of these, LIC and Adani Wilmar have made direct entry to the list by way of IPO. The rest have got ‘promotion’ from the midcap space.

As a result, seven stocks which were part of the largecap list in previous re-categorisation (December 2021) have moved to the midcap category. These stocks are HDFC AMC, Zydus Lifesciences, Godrej Properties, Policybazaar, Jubiliant Foodworks, SAIL and IDBI Bank.

Apart from the above seven, the midcap category added 10 new stocks. Three of them entered by way of IPO and the rest were upgraded from the smallcap list.

The smallcap space has added new entrants like Campus Activewear, Rainbow Children's Medicare, Paradeep Phosphates, Prudent Corporate Advisory, Ethos, AGS Transact, Vedana Learning and Venus pipes, apart from the ones that were downgraded from midcap segment.

In the latest re-categorisation, the cut-off to qualify as a large-cap company decreased to Rs. 47,460 crore from Rs. 47,757 crore during the previous reclassification in December 2021. The cut-off for mid-cap companies rose from Rs. 16,165 crore to Rs. 16,441 crore.
