A team of 40 MFDs and 80 volunteers from Bhopal led by Munnavar Khan launched a sapling plantation drive at Swarna Jayanti Park in Bhopal on Jul 31, 2022. These MFDs planted 300 saplings in a single day.

This was their third drive; they held the first two drives in July and planted a total of 400 saplings. This indicates that these MFDs planted 700 saplings in a month.

While the latest initiative is supported by SBI Mutual Fund, Kotak Mutual Fund funded the previous two drives.

Munnavar who works with Vision Invest Tech formed KGN Social Foundation to undertake various social initiatives. Sharing the rationale, he said, “We are on a green mission to create a healthy environment and conserve it for our future generations. We should dedicate ourselves for the betterment of our nation in whatever way possible. Creating green India is one such way to show patriotism. We are a country of 142 crore people and if everybody plants at least one tree imagine the massive difference we can create.”

Acknowledging efforts of SBI MF, Khan said, “We truly appreciate SBI MF’s act of sponsoring these saplings. Kapil Malik, Regional Head, SBI MF and Ritesh Jadwani, Relationship Manager, SBI MF played a key role here.”

These MFDs planted top oxygen-producing plants like peepal and neem along with fruit-bearing plants like jamun and amrud. In addition, these MFDs encouraged volunteers to participate in Government’s Har Ghar Tiranga initiative.
