MFD Vishal Malhotra, currently, undergoing treatment in Tata Memorial Hospital is in urgent need of funds for further treatment. He was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019 and has undergone three surgeries so far.
Sharing his plight with Cafemutual, he said, “Every 90 days I come down to Mumbai for medical procedures.”
He further said, “Apart from cancer, I am also dealing with a stomach infection and have lost excessive weight. While my weight has increased from 28 kg to 40 kg, I am advised to be in the hospital at least till I reach 50 kg. However, I have exhausted all savings and hence, I am compelled to take an early discharge and return home.”
The 48-year-old MFD has already spent Rs 50 lakh and needs Rs 25 lakh to continue his treatment. He is hopeful that the treatment will help him recover and bounce back strong.
“I seek support from my industry friends and request them to come forward to help me in these tough times. With the money that I receive, I will clear my medical dues with credit card companies (Rs 7.5 lakh) and hospital bills (close to Rs 3 lakh). The money will also aid me to continue my medical treatment including tube feeding via PICC line. I will also be able to enrol myself for precision oncology with a private hospital.”
Vishal is the sole breadwinner and has a 79-year-old mother, wife and a 10-year-old son to look after. He confessed that his business income is negligible now. Vishal has a health insurance but the coverage amount is just Rs.3 lakh per annum which has been exhausted.
