September ended on a positive note for the MF industry. While the industry added 3.70 new investors in September, its AUM reached close to Rs.48 lakh crore. Also, the total number of MF investors crossed 4 crore milestone to reach 4.04 crore in September 2023.
Here are some key highlights of the month:
Folio count
The industry added 28.55 lakh new folios, bringing the total folio count to 15.71 crore.
The industry had 15.42 crore folios in August 2023.
T30 and B30 assets
Of the total AUM of Rs. 48 lakh crore, 82% of the total MF assets or Rs.38.04 lakh crore has come from T-30 locations.
B30 cities account for 18% of the total MF assets or Rs.8.54 crore.
Average AUM per folio
The average AUM per folio of retail investors is Rs.1.80 lakh. Overall, the MF industry has average AUM per folio of Rs.3.02 lakh.
Further, the average AUM per folio of retail investors in B30 is Rs.1.02 lakh and Rs.2.42 lakh in T30 cities.
SIP accounts
The MF industry has added 37 lakh new SIP accounts. However, the industry saw discontinuation of 21 lakh SIP accounts.
Total number of SIP folios stand at 7.13 crore. Of this, equity funds account for over 80% of the SIP accounts or 5.95 crore.
ARN/EUIN registration and renewal
Over 4,200 distributors joined the MF industry. There were 2,354 corporate employees, 1,850 individual employees, 91 corporate employees and 3 international distributors.
The majority of ARNs were from Maharashtra (28.57%), Gujarat (9.70%) and Uttar Pradesh (6.96%).
In terms of ARN renewal, nearly 4,000 distributors have renewed their ARN. Among them, 1,285 were corporate employees, 2,611 individual employees and 116 corporates.
