October ended on a good note for the MF industry. The industry added 4 lakh new investors taking the total number of investors to 4.09 crore. Also, the industry added close to 26 lakh folios and its AUM went up to Rs.48 lakh crore.
Let’s us look at some key highlights of the month gone by:
Folio count
- The industry added 25.51 lakh new folios in the month of October 2023, bringing the total folio count to 15.96 crore
- As on September 2023, the industry had 15.71 crore folios
T30 and B30 assets
- Of the total AUM of Rs. 48 lakh crore, 82% of the total MF assets or Rs.38.19 lakh crore came from T-30 locations
- B30 cities account for 18% of the total MF assets or Rs.8.53 lakh crore
Average AUM per folio
- The average AUM per folio of retail investors stood at Rs.1.76 lakh. Further, the average AUM per folio of retail investors in B30 was Rs.1 lakh and T30 was Rs.2.38 lakh
SIP accounts
- The MF industry added close to 35 lakh new SIP accounts. However, close to 18 lakh SIP accounts were discontinued or matured
- The MF industry has a total of 7.30 crore active SIP folios. Of this, 83% or 6.08 crore are in equity-oriented funds
ARN/EUIN registration and renewal
- Over 4,600 distributors joined the MF industry. Of this, over 2200 were individual MFDs
- The majority of new ARN registrations were from Maharashtra (27.42%), Gujarat (9.68%) and Uttar Pradesh (6.71%)
- 4,084 distributors renewed their ARN
