India’s top 108 cities based on their MF AUM

Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune and Kolkata are the top five cities in terms of MF AUM.

An analysis of industry data reveals that Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru are the top three cities in terms of AUM in December 2023.

Mumbai commands over 27% market share in the MF industry with assets of with assets of Rs.14 lakh crore. Delhi and Bengaluru follow Mumbai with assets of Rs.6.44 lakh crore and Rs.2.77 lakh crore with market share of 13% and 5.43%, respectively.

The other cities in the top 10 are Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Vadodara and Jaipur.

Further analysis shows that Maharashtra has 18 cities in the list of top 108 cities based on their AUM. Gujarat and UP are the next two states with 14 and 11 cities making it to the list.

Overall, the top 108 manages AUM of Rs.37.14 lakh crore which is 78% of the total MF assets.
