Investor appetite for NFOs increased last year. The NFO collection data shows that the MF industry collected Rs.66,000 crore from 185 NFOs in FY 2024 compared to Rs.62,000 crore from 253 NFOs in FY 2023.
Of the total inflows in NFOs, the industry received Rs.39,000 crore from 58 equity funds. Among equity funds, sectoral/thematic funds led the collection list by collecting Rs.25,500 crore from 37 NFOs.
Multi-cap funds followed sectoral funds with NFO collection of Rs.4,500 crore from 4 NFOs. Small cap funds and flexicap funds mobilized Rs.2,300 crore (3 NFOs) and Rs.2,200 crore (4 NFOs), respectively.
The industry raised Rs.7,400 crore through 27 debt fund NFOs, a decrease from Rs.18,700 crore through 88 debt fund NFOs in the previous financial year. Among the debt fund categories, fixed-term plans received Rs.3,800 crore from 18 NFOs while 1 liquid NFO mobilized Rs.3,000 crore.
In the hybrid category, 21 NFOs collected Rs.15,300 crore in FY 2024, an increase from Rs.4,600 crore through 6 NFOs during the previous financial year. Among the hybrid fund categories, multi-asset allocation funds mobilized the highest inflows of Rs.11,200 crore through 12 NFOs.
Dynamic asset allocation/balanced advantage funds came second by collecting Rs.3,900 crore through 6 NFOs whereas aggressive hybrid funds received Rs.442 crore during 2 NFOs.
Among passive funds, 77 NFOs collected Rs.4,200 crore in FY 2024, a decrease from Rs.9,400 crore through 126 NFOs in FY 2023. Index funds and ETFs mobilized Rs.2,600 and Rs.1,200 crore through 35 NFOs and 32 NFOs, respectively. Gold ETFs raised Rs.60 crore through 5 NFOs.
