    MF industry adds 59 lakh new SIP accounts in April-June 2024

    Majority of SIP accounts i.e. 4.78 crore are from B-30 locations.

    AMFI data shows that the total number of live SIP accounts increased from 8.40 crore in March 2024 to 8.99 crore in June 2024, an increase of 59 lakh new accounts. The SIP accounts increased by 7% in Q1 FY25.

    Of the total 8.99 crore live SIP accounts, majority of  SIP accounts i.e. 4.78 crore are from B-30 locations.

    Nashik MFD Ajay Kale, President of Guntavanuk Vikas Pratinidhi Sanstha (GVPS) believes that equity funds are the topmost choice of SIP investors.

    Kota MFD Pankaj Ladha of Invest Aaj For Kal attributes the rising number of new SIP accounts to the performance of equity funds.  He said, "The strong performance of the equity market over the past three years has attracted many investors to invest in equity funds through SIPs."

    The data also reveals that the majority of live SIP accounts are in equity growth plans, making up 82% of the total, which is approximately 7.36 crore accounts in June 2024.

    Hybrid schemes hold the second-highest number of live SIP accounts, totaling 55.55 lakh accounts in the first quarter of FY25.

    Further, index funds rank third with 38.5 lakh live SIP accounts, followed by income/debt-oriented schemes (excluding liquid & overnight funds), which have 25 lakh live SIP accounts for quarter ending June 2024.
