    Which fund houses have the highest AUM from direct plans?

    SBI MF, ICICI Pru MF and HDFC MF have the highest direct plan assets in absolute terms.

    An analysis of AUM data of fund houses by Cafemutual shows that SBI MF, ICICI Prudential MF and HDFC MF are the top three fund houses in terms of direct plan assets in September 2024.

    SBI MF has the highest AUM of Rs. 6.44 lakh crore under direct plan. It derives 57% of its total AUM from the direct assets.

    Second on the list is ICICI Pru MF with the direct AUM of Rs. 4 lakh crore. It derives 46% of its assets from direct plan. Joining the two fund houses in the top 3 is HDFC MF with a direct AUM of Rs. 3.15 lakh crore. HDFC MF has 40% of its assets coming from direct plans.  

    Nippon India MF and Kotak MF follow the top 3 with direct AUM of Rs. 3.01 lakh crore each.

    Other fund houses with high direct AUM includes Aditya Birla Sun Life MF, Axis MF, UTI MF, Tata MF and Bandhan MF.

    AMCs with highest proportion of direct AUM

    In terms of proportion of direct plan AUM to the total assets, Zerodha Capital MF is first with all its AUM coming from direct mode. Quantum MF is second with 93% of its AUM coming directly.

    Navi MF records 86% of its AUM from direct mode.

    Trust MF and PPFAS MF occupy fourth and fifth spots with direct to total AUM ratio of  75% and 65%, respectively.

    Other AMCs with high direct AUM include Groww MF, Old Bridge MF, 360 ONE MF, SBI MF and Quant MF.

    Overall, direct AUM of the MF industry is at Rs. 30.62 lakh crore, which is 45% of the total industry AUM.

    Lot of direct funds investments are coming from institutions and corporates and corporates generally invest majorly in debt instrument. It would be interesting to see the bifurcation of individuals investing in equity funds between regular and direct
