The MF industry has added 10 lakh new investors in September to cross the 5 crore milestone in terms of unique investors.
Another key milestone is the addition of 60 lakh folios in September. Overall, the folio count has increased from 20.45 crore in August 2024 to 21.05 crore in September 2024.
In September 2023, the MF industry had 15.71 crore folios, indicating a 34% growth in the last one year.
Here are other key highlights of September:
T30 & B30 folios & AUM
11.19 crore out of the 21.05 crore, i.e. 53% of MF industry folios has come from T30 cities. The rest, 9.86 crore folios are from B30 cities.
In terms of AUM, assets of Rs. 54.19 lakh crore has come from T30 cities, which constitutes about 81% of the total MF assets. B30 cities contribute Rs. 12.90 lakh crore, about 19% to the total industry assets.
Average AUM per folio
The average AUM per folio of individual investors in B-30 cities is Rs. 1.13 lakh while such a figure for T30 cities is Rs. 2.84 lakh in September 2024.
The combined average AUM per folio (T30+B30) of individual investors stays at Rs. 2.04 lakh last month.
SIP count & AUM
The MF industry has added 66.39 lakh new SIP accounts in September while 40.31 SIP accounts were paused or stopped, indicating a net increase of 26 lakh accounts.
The total number of live SIP accounts is at 9.87 crore. 8.05 crore of these SIP accounts, about 82%, are in equity schemes.
Distributor growth
The industry has welcomed 6100 new ARN holders in September. Of this, 2800 are individual MFDs.
Majority of new registrations has happened in Maharashtra, which accounts for about 22% of the total new ARN registrations.
Gujarat and UP occupy the next two spots in terms of new ARN registration in September.
