AMFI industry data shows that individual investors have an asset mix of 74:26 in T30:B30 ratio.
T30 cities contribute Rs. 31.57 lakh i.e. 74% of the individual MF assets of Rs. 42.61 lakh crore. Most of these assets have come through distributors. Out of Rs.31.57 lakh crore, regular plans account for Rs.24 lakh crore while the remaining Rs. 7.58 lakh crore is from direct plans.
When it comes to B30 cities, individual investors contribute Rs. 11.04 lakh crore or 26% of the total individual MF assets. Of these assets, Rs. 9 lakh crore or 82% is through distributors.
Overall, the top 30 cities contribute Rs. 55.41 lakh crore (individual + institutional) out of Rs. 68 lakh crore AUM of the MF industry. T30 AUM has increased by 46% from Rs. 38.04 lakh crore in September 2023 to Rs. 55.41 lakh crore in September 2024.
Asset mix in T30 and B30 cities
In terms of asset mix in T30 cities in September 2024, Rs. 30.48 lakh crore, 55% of the total T 30 assets has come from equity-oriented schemes while Rs. 24.93 lakh crore or 45% of assets is from non-equity oriented schemes.
In B30 cities, most of the assets are in equity funds. In fact, Rs. 10.83 lakh crore i.e. 86% of the total B30 assets is in equity schemes.
Folio count in B30 and T30 cities
Individual folio count in T30 cities has increased from 8.66 crore in September 2023 to 11.12 crore in September 2024 indicating an increase of 28%.
In B30 cities, individual folio count has increased by 41% from 6.96 crore in September 2023 to 9.81 crore in September 2024.
Average AUM per folio in T30 and B30 cities
Average AUM per folio in T30 cities has increased to Rs. 2.84 lakh in September 2024.
In B30 cities, average AUM per folio has grown to Rs. 1.13 lakh in September 2024.
