National Institute of Technology - Rourkela bagged the title of National Champions in an inter-collegiate nationwide quiz on finance held by Tata Mutual Fund, said a press release issued by the fund house.
The quiz was organized in 8 cities - Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Chennai, Delhi, Indore, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The quiz, aimed at creating financial awareness among the youth, saw participation from over 1400 students from different fields, said the release.
Nishant Nihar and Wasim Sajjad from National Institute of Technology Rourkela were the winners while Prashant Mishra and Sourav Ghosh from Institute of Management & Technology Ghaziabad were the runners-up at the grand finale held on the 11th October 2014 at the Taj President.
The winners received prize money of Rs.3 lakh. The runner-ups received Rs. 1.50 lakh, second runner-up received Rs. 1 lakh and regional round winners received Rs. 50,000.
Sharing their experience, the winners said, “We thoroughly enjoyed the quiz. It made us explore the world of finance which is an indispensable part of the modern world we live in. It is a great initiative to spread financial knowledge across the youth of the country and we hope it will become more successful and widen its reach in the future.”
Government College of Technology, Ethiraj College for Women, N I T Rourkela, BMS Institute of Technology, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management Nagpur, Institute of Management & Technology Ghaziabad, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology & Osmania Medical College Hyderabad were the teams that made it to the final.
