The top 10 cities account for 62% of the total MF AUM. According to the AMFI data, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Baroda and Jaipur are the top ten states in terms of AUM.
Mumbai commands the highest MF assets with Rs.18 lakh crore, constituting 27% of the total industry AUM in March 2025.
Far behind Mumbai, Delhi holds the second spot with assets of Rs.8.44 lakh crore. Delhi accounts for 12.65% of the total Industry AUM.
Bengaluru occupies the third spot in the list with assets of Rs. 3.6 lakh crore, constituting 5.40% of the total industry AUM.
Interestingly, these three cities account for 44% of the total MF industry’s AUM as on March 2025.
Pune and Kolkata are the next two in the list with AUM of Rs.2.66 lakh crore and Rs.2.33 lakh crore as on March 2025, contributing 4% and 3.49% to the total MF AUM.
Others in the top 10 include Chennai (AUM Rs.3 lakh crore and share 2.01%), Ahmedabad (AUM Rs.1.89 lakh crore and share 2.83%), Hyderabad (AUM Rs.1.39 lakh crore and share 2.09%), Baroda (AUM Rs.59,000 crore and share 0.88%) and Jaipur (AUM Rs.56,000 crore and share 0.84%).
Maharashtra, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh have the highest number of cities in the list. These are the only three states that have more than 10 cities. Maharashtra has 18 cities, Gujarat has 13 while Uttar Pradesh has 12 cities in the list.
Rajasthan has 6 cities in the list while Karnataka, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu has 5 cities each in the list.
