What were the most significant events which impacted you in 2014?
At the macro level: The turnaround in the economy with Narendra Modi’s victory and the overall change in sentiment in the economy. It was indeed heartening and inspiring to see how one person can change the sentiment of the country.
At the client level: I was able to get back some customers who had lost hope in equity.
One book/movie which you enjoyed reading/watching in 2014
It’s ‘Ineffective Habits of Financial Advisors’. I enjoyed reading the book because it relates so much to my practice. It helped me become more focused.
One advice/learning which influenced you a lot…
Learning: Have a well thought strategy and work towards it tirelessly. I had made a business plan at the start of the year which kept me on track to a great extent.
Advice: Don’t get affected by peer pressure. Your efforts and practice is yours. You are unique.
A high point in your professional life in 2014
- I regularly interacted with an American Planner (Jane Beule) who gave me great insights on my practice. Her inputs helped me immensely.
- I started delegating work in a phased manner and learnt to accept my subordinates in different roles which used to be difficult for me.
A high point in your personal life in 2014
Finally got down to having an exercise regime which I had been struggling for the last two years. Now I work out regularly. Thus, work life balance has improved.
What is it that you are looking forward to in 2015?
I’m working on building a niche practice. Also, I want to stick to my business plan.

- Be more humane and more trusting
- Give back to society more than last year
