Motilal Oswal MF clinches MF industry’s first T20 trophy

Motilal Oswal MF beat DSP BlackRock MF to bag the MF industry’s first T20 cricket tournament trophy ‘T-20 Corporate Challenge Cricket Cup - 2015’.

Balkrishna Kini, Deputy CEO, AMFI, Ramamoorthy Rajagopal, Chief Administrative Officer, DSP BlackRock MF and Sharad Sarang, former-A Division Cricketer distributed the prizes.

In an interesting final played on Sunday, Motilal Oswal MF registered a last over win against DSP BlackRock MF. Motilal Oswal MF won the toss and elected to field. DSP BlackRock MF got off to a good start and set a healthy target of 197 runs for Motilal Oswal MF.

DSP BlackRock bowlers got some earlier wickets. However, thanks to spectacular inning of the Motilal Oswal Captain Amit Dassani, the fund house won the match by 6 wickets. Dassani scored 83 runs with 6 sixes and 10 fours and was declared the Man of the Match.

On Saturday, two semifinals were played between Motilal Oswal MF and SBI MF and DSP BlackRock MF and ICICI Prudential MF.  In the first semifinal, Motilal Oswal MF defeated SBI MF by a whopping 167 runs. Motilal Oswal MF batted first and piled up a massive score of 306 runs. Kiran Koli of Motilal Oswal MF scored a specular 165 runs out of 65 balls. In reply, SBI MF’s batting line up crumbled quickly and was bowled out for a score of just 139 runs.

In the second semifinal of the tournament, DSP BlackRock played against ICICI MF. After winning the toss, DSP BlackRock MF opted to field first and managed to restrict ICICI MF’s batsmen. The latter fund house was bowled out for just 113 runs.  While chasing, DSP BlackRock reached this score in the 14^th over to win the match.

This four-day-long tournament (spread over two weekends) started on October 24. The matches were played at Naman Payyade Cricket Ground, Borivali, Mumbai. Sarang Sports organized this cricket tournament.

Axis, DSP BlackRock, ICICI Prudential, Kotak Mahindra, HSBC, Motilal Oswal, Religare Invesco and SBI competed in this tournament.
