FIFA suggests that service tax invoices should be accepted at R&T offices

Currently, distributors have to send their service tax invoices to AMC offices every month which is proving to be tedious and expensive.

Mumbai based IFA Association - Foundation of Independent Financial Advisors (FIFA) has requested AMC CEOs to allow acceptance of service tax invoices of distributors at their respective R&T offices across India.

Currently, distributors have to send their service tax invoices to AMC offices every month.  “It is extremely time consuming and expensive for IFAs to send individual service tax invoices physically to each AMC office every month,” points out Yogesh Sharma, Director, FIFA.

Mumbai based advisor Satish Pandey says that submitting invoices to R&Ts would be the best solution. “We visit R&T offices almost every day so submitting service tax invoices to them would be ideal since we will be able to get a time stamp or a delivery confirmation. R&Ts are good at maintaining records and they can handle this task deftly.”

Yogesh said that AMC CEOs have responded positively to their request. “FIFA would like to convey special thanks to its member Ms. Sujata Kabraji for initiating it. We have received a positive response on this request and are hoping that it will be implemented at the earliest,” said Yogesh.

“It is logical. Why should IFAs send invoices to 40 AMCs when they can send submit them at R&T offices? I don’t think there should be a problem. We will see speak to our R&T about this,” said the CEO of a foreign fund house.

This is really dumb. Why are distributors sending these invoices? AMC's are no one. The onus is on us to deposit STAX. It's between us and the government now. Who are the AMC'S? What is their locus standing? I am shocked at how people just don't think and start doing such nonsensical clerical work. I am sorry to say even donkeys are better than us.

AMCs are having entire DATA as regards commission payment and moreover if a IFA is earning more than 10 LAKH amount he is liable to pay service tax. What AMCs are going to do with such invoices submitted by individual IFA

first thing is most of the IFAs are unknown about how to calculate their liability. Some people/service tax consultant saying if your mutual fund commission in not crossing 10 Lac last year, you dont have to pay service tax. (Although it crossed 10 lac due to insurance commission). Non of the AMC giving right direction about ST. Secondly it would be very good decision by finance ministry to keep deducting ST at source for those who were crossing 10 Lac limit than registering themselves with Excise/ST department. Its headache now.

I totally agree, why are we required to give invoice to AMCs, as its between Govt and us. All the AMCs have our commission records. If any AMCs is going to refund our Service Tax then it makes sense to give Invoice to them. Other wise its just yet another non productive work.
