L&T MF partners with KidZania to launch a financial literacy programme for children

    Team Cafemutual Nov 15, 2016

L&T Mutual Fund in collaboration with KidZania, an award winning Global theme park, is set to give yet another unique learning experience to kids on the theme of financial literacy, savings and investments. The fund house on the occasion of Children’s day launched a one of its kind financial literacy corner in the KidZania premises. With an impetus on investments, kids will gain knowledge on the concepts of ‘earn, save, invest and spend’ through fun games and interactions. One of the things synonymous with Mumbai is the Stock Exchange and therefore L&T MF has kept the theme around the Stock Exchange. While the theme is stock exchange, there is more to it than just stocks like mutual funds etc, says a press release issued by the company.

Kailash Kulkarni, Chief Executive Officer, L&T MF said, “This partnership is a very unique initiative aimed at educating the future generation of India about saving and starting early to invest. We are indeed very thrilled about this alliance and are happy that we are contributing in shaping the minds of the children on the theme of savings.  This establishment will demystify and simplify financial concepts for the kids and what better day to launch than Children’s Day. We look forward to an exciting journey of financial learning for the kids."

At this establishment, kids get to choose from being an Investor or a Fund Manager.  As an investor, kids create portfolio and invest in various asset classes. A Fund Manager, on the other hand, gets to manage the portfolio on behalf of the investor. The young investors can earn kidZos (KidZania’s currency) for saving and investing with the expectation of a future return, while the Fund Managers get paid for their professional services in kidZos. The kids also learn to develop good social skills while managing their customers and bonding with them.

Practical learning like this will provide young children with insights and more investment options in their transition into the world of finance when they grow up.

The objective of this collaboration is to introduce children to the value & importance of saving and investing and how investments will play a major role in their life.
