    Vijay Advani promoted as CEO of Nuveen

    Vijay was earlier the Co-President of Franklin Templeton Investments and had started the Indian operations of Franklin Templeton.

    TIAA Global Asset Management has named Vijay Advani, President and Chief Operating Officer as the new Chief Executive Officer of Nuveen, a global investment manager with effect from April 21. Advani will be responsible for all of Nuveen’s business global, said a press release issued by the company.

    “Vijay is ideally suited to lead our asset management business, given his industry background and global experience,” said Roger W. Ferguson, President and CEO of TIAA, the parent of Nuveen. “He is a skilled leader whose vision for the business will serve our clients well.”

    As President and COO of Nuveen, Advani has been responsible for firm-wide strategy and running the company’s global distribution platform. Before joining Nuveen, he was Co-President of Franklin Templeton Investments, where he was responsible for long-term strategic initiatives, investment management, trading and global retail and institutional distribution. He was with Franklin Templeton for 22 years. He was the first CEO of Franklin Templeton in India.

    With this, he will become a member of the TIAA Executive Committee.

    Advani will assume his role from Rob Leary, who is leaving the company to pursue another professional opportunity. Leary will remain with the firm until April 21 and advise during the transition.
