IRDAI has clarified that it has not taken any decision on disclosure of commission of intermediaries like agents and brokers on a policy document.

The insurance regulator further clarified that it will consult all stakeholders before making any decision.

IRDAI said, “The authority has not taken any decision on this matter. Furthermore, the authority will hold extensive consultations with all stakeholders before any such decision is taken.”

This has come after a working group comprising members of Life Insurance Council and General Insurance Council recommended IRDAI to make it mandatory for insurers to disclose commission of intermediaries on the policy document.

IRDAI said, “It has come to the notice of the authority that concerns are being expressed in some quarters regarding mandatory disclosure of commissions on the policy documents. The concerns emanate from certain recommendations made by working groups constituted by the insurance councils.”

This is ethical business practice not only the power of their association ...... Why to disclose the commission ? have any one ever got the info from JIO Mart, or Big Bazar or from Maruti Dealer or from local fruit seller or from Amazon or any other businesses that they disclose us the commission before or after selling the product , how ever many of them have to be touch or even bonded with their respective customer as after sales services ....... ONLY MFD's are targeted <:> <:> just because its a manufacturer willingness .......we uselessly blame others

Consumers/Investors'/Policy holders are not asking how much commission we earn because they know that they are also earning salary or commission or profits from their Job, Professional Services or Business and it is a personal and confidential information not to be disclosed in public domain. But I don't understand why the authorities are raising these issues.
There are very important issues that get missed out by focusing on such things. MFDs are also customers and are availing various services and buying various goods. Are MFDs asking others to disclose in official public domain what others are earning. This is very much against the privacy of any individual. I can't understand why the Regulators are not focussing on the transperancy and proper disclosure about the products or services instead of focusing on disclosure of the income of the product /service provider.

Why are these being done with insurance agents? Is the businesses run on telling how much profit and loss or commission are service provider getting? Which businessman tells his earning from the product or service he sells?? Then why govt is thinking to disclose our earnings from it?? What is the benefit to government? Are the govt officers deaf? Entire industry will be shattered if any commission is disclosed
