    Roy appointed as LIC MD: media reports

    Thomas Mathew will hold the charge of interim Chairman till June 30.

    SK Roy, former Head of International Operations in LIC, took charge as the Managing Director of country’s largest life insurance company LIC. Roy had joined LIC on 1981 as Direct Recruitment Officer. He was also the Zonal Manager of north central and eastern zone of the insurance firm.

    Meanwhile, the government has appointed Thomas Mathew as interim Chairman of LIC. Mathew was Managing Director of LIC and will hold the position till June 30.

    Reportedly, Roy had also appeared for the interview for the post of LIC Chairman along with others like LIC Managing Direct Sushobhan Sarkar, MD & CEO LIC Housing Finance VK Sharma, LIC Executive Directors SB Mainak and Usha Sangwan.

    LIC manages a corpus of Rs 14 lakh crore and accounts for nearly 79 percent of total assets in life insurance business.
