In an effort to spread health awareness among people, Max Bupa Health Insurance is going to launch ‘Walk for Health 2013’ in Delhi and Mumbai on October 20, 2013. In a press release, the insurer said that the initiative aims to motivate people to incorporate walking as an exercise into their daily routine. This will be the second edition of the calendar event which saw massive response from 18,000 people in 2012.
Max Bupa Walk for Health 2013 will hold three categories- Adults, Children and Elderly. The distance for each category will be 5km walk for Adults and 2km walk for senior citizens and children.
This year, Max Bupa Walk for Health is focused on Delhi and Mumbai, as owing to a sedentary lifestyle, people living in these metropolises are more prone to stress and lead an unhealthy life. Prominent as the IT/Telecom and BFSI hubs of India, the people in these cities work long hours which leaves them with hardly any spare time to exercise. Bupa’s global research in 13 countries has revealed that high stress level, unhealthy diets and sedentary lifestyle has high negative impact on people’s health.
Through a press release, Manasije Mishra, CEO, Max Bupa Health Insurance said, “At Max Bupa, our purpose is to help our customers lead healthier and more successful lives. Max Bupa Walk for Health received a tremendous response in 2012 and successfully mobilized more than 18,000 people to walk. This year, our focus is Delhi and Mumbai, India’s largest cities where people are possibly experiencing high stress level, considerable pollution and difficult lifestyles. We believe that if we can get people to change their lifestyles and start walking in these cities then we can make a significant impact on the health of our fellow citizens.”
