Women have evolved in making financial decisions. In fact, they are now aware about various financial products and take investment decisions on their own. An online survey conducted by ICICI Lombard General Insurance shows that almost 95% women are aware of health insurance products. This was followed by motor insurance (74%), home insurance (67%) and travel insurance (47%).
Also, a majority of women have insured themselves. 84% were insured for health while 70% had a motor insurance cover and 36% had a home insurance policy.
In a press release, Sanjay Datta, Chief-Underwriting & Claims, ICICI Lombard GIC said, “While playing multiple roles women today tend to focus more on their family’s health and well-being. They are savvier and show a sense of being prepared for eventualities. It is encouraging that most women respondents in our survey were themselves/their family covered through an appropriate insurance cover.”
The survey was conducted to gauge the perception of women towards risk in the area of health, travel, motor and home. It collected responses from 876 women respondents over email, Facebook and Twitter in the age group of 22 to 55 years.
The survey also shows that more than 86% of Indian women prefer to put their family’s health and safety first. Also the recent calamities (like Chennai & Srinagar floods) have made women more cautious leading to their taking steps to secure their home and family. They gave importance to staying healthy (71%) and ensuring adequate saving (63%).
