AMFI data shows that the AUM of passive funds has increased from Rs.6.67 lakh crore in March 2023 to Rs.9.22 lakh crore in March 2024, an increase of 38% over the year.
Among passives, other ETFs which include both equity and fixed income ETFs have the highest AUM of Rs.6.55 lakh crore in March 2024, up from Rs.4.80 lakh crore in March 2023.
Further, index funds also witnessed healthy growth in AUM. Its assets went up to Rs.2.11 lakh crore in March 2024 compared to Rs.1.45 lakh crore in March 2023.
Investor interest in gold ETFs has also increased. The average AUM of gold ETFs surged to Rs.30,000 crore in March 2024, marking a 36% increase in one year.
In terms of inflows, the passive funds witnessed net inflows of Rs.50,000 crore in FY 2024.
