    India's fourth-largest private life insurer Max Life is charting an independent course after its proposed merger with HDFC's life insurance arm collapsed. Rajesh Sud , managing director, Max Life Insurance , tells Mohit Bhalla the company continues to scout for acquisition opportunities and will look to partner with life insurers backed by public sector banks looking to divest non-core assets and clean up their balance sheets.
