Many mutual fund advisors and investors are almost convinced that the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is going to introduce long term capital gains tax (LTCG) on equities in this Budget. Though there is no unanimity about the finer details, many investors are convinced that LTCG from equity investments would be taxed at a marginal rate. Currently, investments held over a year in equity mutual funds qualify for long-term capital gains tax which is currently zero.
