    Mutual fund advisors are getting frantic calls from panicky mutual fund investors, mostly direct investors, after the recent volatility in the market. The bull run in the stock market saw a large number of new investors coming to the equity mutual funds fold. Most of these new investors were direct investors, or those who did not seek the help of a mutual fund advisor for their investments.

    Not only fee based advisors. Even MFDs are good and right people to consult and invest through. Also the point you are missing is fees is also a cost. Secondly direct plans should be banned because it lures the investors to invest in them showing low cost so investors make wrong decisions only looking at the cost. Also lot of bombardment is going on saying that cost has to be reduced for the benefit of investors which is an absolutely malicious campaign and it is only to benefit AMCs. Also if investors are asking in various forums about their investments it means direct plans are unethical in nature and only tries dupe people and they are clueless. It is high time SEBI do something for the investors and not AMCs and close direct schemes.
