Get set to buy mutual funds from Paytm

    Source: Mint Apr 9, 2018

Not many of us are used to buying mutual funds using our smart phones, even though there are some apps that facilitate this. But with Paytm, one of India’s largest mobile wallets, set to enter mutual fund distribution in a month’s time, many of us (Paytm claims to have around 300 million customers) would be able to buy mutual funds with a tap of a button. On 5 April, Mint carried a story on what Paytm could offer.

Most seasoned mutual fund investors come from urban areas, and the product has only recently made inroads in semi-urban and rural areas. But nearly half of Paytm wallet’s transactions happen in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, which raises the concern that whether Paytm Money users will be adequately aware of mutual funds as a product and the risks they carry, and accordingly take informed decisions. Will people use the mutual fund platform the way we look at the e-wallet, which is commonly used so far to buy things such as movie tickets? Mint Money takes a look at the three most common questions that Paytm’s customers might have.

Also which Tele caller sold which fund to who and next time which Tele caller will attend the customer is something customers should assess before investing through them. In Paytm there is no email id where one can write to for complaint or give feedback. If you are not registered with them there is no way you can ask them about any query. If you call from any other no other than your registered mobile no they will not let you speak to customer care executive or you can't solve any of your problem. Imagine all this in just consumer products so what will happen in financial products segment? Also many times their customer care no.( Which by the way is not toll greens is based in Delhi so STD calls will have to be made ) where they just keep you waiting for 15 minutes many times or they just say please call us later and have no facility to call back. Even if someone calls back which person is going to attend to a client is a question.
After all this if some investors wants to invest through them..God save them.
