Is risk profile the most important thing about one's portfolio?
In risk profile, some 40-year person might be very aggressive in risk taking, some 40-year person might be very conservative in risk taking. It is important for you to use the thumb rule but also use your risk profile. This is also an informed set of audience. If we create a 2 by 2 model, on one side, I will put my risk profile and my investment objective and on the other, I will put valuation of the market.
